Committed to our Community

Our commitment

As part of the Highmark Health enterprise, we continue to uphold a strong tradition of hands-on community support and philanthropy established more than 170 years ago by our affiliate companies. We believe that we have a fundamental responsibility to be leaders and stewards in the community, working to improve the health and well-being of those we serve by giving back to, reinvesting in, and strengthening the communities where our customers and employees live, work, and play.

Corporate giving

Our work is tied to a larger social mission to build stronger communities of healthier people. That same mission guides our organizational giving.

Much of that giving takes the form of providing health coverage and care to those who are unable to pay for services. Philanthropic giving is just as important – including a United Way campaign that raises millions of dollars each year, the work of our foundations, and hundreds of sponsorships and grants that help health, wellness, education, human services, arts, and other community-based organizations. The same spirit of giving drives the time and effort our employees dedicate to volunteering.

Forge proudly supports the decades-long legacy of giving established by Highmark Inc. and its predecessors, as well as the community-based hospitals that are now part of the Allegheny Health Network.

Community Involvement

We believe in giving back to the community. Each year, Forge identifies an organization or charitable cause to champion. These organizations have received generous support:

  • City of Fargo, ND
  • Variety, the Children’s Charity
  • Volunteers of America
  • Challenged Athletes Foundation
  • Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
  • Ronald McDonald House
